Saint-Etienne, Ligue 2 leaders with 25 points in 11 games , host Laval, second to last with only 9 points.

The main argument here is Saint-Étienne’s record at Geoffroy-Guichard: 5 matches, 5 wins, 13 goals scored and only 2 conceded . That’s an average of 2.6 goals scored and 0.4 conceded per game.

Of these five victories, four were achieved by at least two goals : 3-1 against Clermont, 4-0 against Grenoble, 3-1 against Montpellier, and 2-0 against Rodez. Only the 1-0 victory against Nantes would not have fully validated our handicap.

Conversely, Laval has still not won away from home: 1 draw and 4 defeats in 5 away games , with 11 goals conceded, or 2.2 per game.

The xG projections also favor Saint-Étienne, with approximately 2.29

Offensively, the Greens possess several decisive players:

Augustine Boakye: 6 goals and 3 assists.  Irvin Cardona: 5 goals and 4 assists.Jakob Breum: 2 goals and 5 assists.

Saint-Etienne will still have to do without Larsonneur and Svetlin, but they welcome back Jaber and Lamba. Their main attacking weapons remain available.

Laval also has to deal with several absences, notably Commaret and Coquelin. Laval just beat Boulogne 1-0, but their away record remains very poor.

The only point of concern regarding the handicap: three of Laval’s four away defeats were by a single goal . A close match is therefore still possible.

I’m still going with the Asian -1 , mainly thanks to the Greens’ consistency at home, their ability to win by several goals and Laval’s defensive difficulties away from home.
