2. Bundesliga

1. FC Köln make the long trip south east to take on SSV Jahn Regensburg for a place in the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal. Jahn will be hoping to make it to the last eight for the first time ever, with FC keen to end an 11-year wait on a place in the quarters.

HOW THEY GOT HERE

SSV Jahn Regensburg: Theres doing things the hard way and doing things Jahn Regensburgs way. Mersad Selimbegovics side have gone through 120 minutes and penalty shoot-outs in both of their Pokal ties this season. 1. FC Kaiserslautern and SV Wehen Wiesbaden have been unable to get the better of Jahn Regensburg when it came down to spot-kicks this season.

1. FC Köln: FC have made it into the last 16 without conceding a goal. A confident 6:0 win over VSG Altglienicke was Markus Gisdols sides first taste of competitive action this campaign. A second round tie against VfL Osnabrück saw the visitors defend well but ultimately an Anthony Modeste goal just before half-time was enough to clinch a last 16 spot.

THE MANAGERS HAVE HAD THEIR SAY

Mersad Selimbegovic: Köln are a big club and a good team. Everyone has a small chance. If we get one tomorrow, then we will do everything to make sure we use it. Well play our way and try to play our game, defending from the front.

Markus Gisdol: There is no time for us to have a rest. It was nice to have won against Bielefeld but my head is already in Regensburg and starting to think about our game against them. We absolutely want to go a step further in the cup.

SQUAD UPDATE

SSV Jahn Regensburg: After Nicolas Wählings red card in the first round against 1. FC Kaiserslautern, he is available for selection once more. Oliver Hein is hopeful of a return but Jan-Niklas Beste will be absent for the game. Sebastian Stolze returned from injury against SV Darmstadt 98 at the weekend.

1. FC Köln: Sebastian Andersson and Florian Kainz are continuing to work their way back to fitness after their respective injuries. Sebastiaan Bornauw and his back problems will mean the defender will sit the game out.

OPPOSITION DANGERMAN

After scoring five times in the first 10 games of the season, Andreas Albers was on course to be in an around the top of the goalscoring charts come the end of the campaign. However, seven goalless games followed. The 30-year-old forward kept working hard and ended the drought against 1. FC Nürnberg on Wednesday to secure a vital three points. He is headed to beat his total of eight last term, having already found the back of the net six times in 2. Bundesliga thus far.

RECENT RECORD

Jahn and FC have only met four times competitively, but they have regularly been occasions to savour. Only once has a game involving the two teams had three goals or less scored. In the four meetings between the sides, a total of 20 goals have been scored. That includes the 3:5 win for Jahn last time out. The most recent clash in Regensburg saw FC come away 3:1 winners.

DAGBLADET:

Tysk DFB Pokal, 1/8-finale. Bundesliga i denne rare sesongen.
